Precise Rehab Sdn. Bhd.
Being a professional MMA fighter who trains every day, managing a fast and sustainable recovery will always be a monumental aspect in her career. Here, she describes her recovery journey with Precise Rehab.
What challenges was your body experiencing?
Patellar tendonitis and a recurring left wrist injury from doing a lot of high impact activities– constantly feels as if it's getting detached. Now, I'm also experiencing left ankle instability– it moves in and out of place. My lower back has also been a nagging issue with temporary relief from stretching out but when I don't, it comes back.

How long have you been experiencing this?
It has been about 4 to 5 years. It comes and goes.

How did it impact your day-to-day life?
It doesn't impact my daily routine as much as it is for my sports. When the pain settles in, that's when it starts limiting my motion because I know it's a sign for me to stop. So because of that, when my knee/ankle/wrist feels pain, I can't even do essential and required movements in my sports.

What brought you to Precise Rehab?
Actually, it was my mum! She knew one of the founders of Precise Rehab, Ong Lip Qin. I unfortunately got injured right before a back-to-back race period. I was able to recover almost instantly.

What has been the most rewarding part of your recovery journey?
My patellar tendonitis would be the most significant one. It limited me from any high-intensity cardio movement like running, and basically took me back to ground zero. I had a fair knowledge of what to do, but I really needed more guidance from a professional. The rehabilitation program that was conveniently produced and tailored to me was very in-depth and it gave me a deeper understanding of my body and both its potential and limitations.

The major improvement I have made for myself is building a better mind and body awareness to the point that it feels like my second nature. It takes less effort for me now to activate or brace the appropriate muscles required within a certain movement.

How would you describe your Precise Rehab journey?
Each and every one of your physiotherapists are knowledgeable and very passionate– they do what they do because they genuinely want to help people recover.

As an athlete who trains every day, injuries are bound to happen and the first 24–hour management for the injury is so crucial. The fact that I'm able to reach out and get prompt advice from my therapist on how to manage my injuries gives me extra security and support. I feel so well taken care of in Precise Rehab.

May I also mention how your therapists would go out of your way to immerse yourself in different sports/activities so that you can understand and attend to your wide range of clients? I admire your proactivity as therapists to find ways to show up better for your patients.
